Welcome

A Warm Welcome

It is a privilege to lead such a warm, caring and close-knit school community, where every child is known as an individual and supported to flourish in all aspects of their development.

One of the great strengths of Sheering is our exceptional Early Years provision. Our Reception children benefit from a nurturing, well-resourced environment where curiosity, independence and early communication skills are prioritised. Our staff ensure that each child feels secure, confident and excited to learn, laying strong foundations for the years ahead. The seamless transition into Key Stage 1 is something we are particularly proud of, ensuring that children continue to build on their early successes.

As a small village school, we are uniquely placed to offer a strong sense of belonging. Every child is seen, valued and celebrated, and families quickly become part of our wider school family. Our size allows us to develop deep relationships with pupils, parents and carers, enabling us to tailor support, recognise talents early and respond swiftly to individual needs.

We also benefit from mixed-age classes, which offer a rich and varied learning experience. Older pupils act as role models and leaders, while younger pupils gain confidence by learning alongside more experienced classmates. This approach encourages collaboration, empathy and resilience – qualities we believe are essential for life. Our teachers are highly skilled in planning learning that challenges every child, whatever their starting point.

This year marks an exciting period of growth and renewal for Sheering. We are strengthening our curriculum, refreshing our learning environments and deepening our partnership with West Ham Church Primary School, enabling us to draw on additional expertise and bring new opportunities to our pupils.

At the heart of everything we do is our Christian vision, which shapes our commitment to nurturing character, kindness and a sense of hope in every child. We want our pupils to flourish academically, socially and spiritually, developing the confidence to embrace the future with courage and curiosity.

Whether you are new to our school or already part of our community, I look forward to working together to ensure that Sheering remains a place where children feel joyful, safe and inspired to achieve their very best.

Warmest regards,

Nicola James
