Curriculum overview

How Our Curriculum is Organised

At Sheering CofE Primary School, we have three mixed-age classes. This structure allows us to personalise learning, make the most of our small school community, and ensure children learn from and support one another.

Our classes are organised as follows:
• Acorns Class – Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
• Birch Class – Year 3 and Year 4
• Oak Class – Year 5 and Year 6

Our curriculum has been carefully planned to ensure that all pupils experience the full breadth of learning set out in the National Curriculum. Knowledge and skills are taught in a two-year cycle, so that children revisit and build on learning as they progress through their time in each class.

Teachers adapt learning to meet the needs of different ages and abilities within the class. This approach supports strong collaboration, high expectations and excellent relationships across year groups.

By the time children move on from Sheering, they have a rich and well-sequenced educational experience, fully preparing them for secondary school and future success.
