“Together we care, belong and grow”
Sheering CE Primary School’s vision and values have been shaped in partnership with pupils, staff, governors, school leaders, the local church and families. They provide a shared foundation for decision-making, relationships and daily practice across the school.
Our vision is rooted in Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25–37). In this teaching, Jesus invites us to consider the question “Who is my neighbour?” and to respond with care, responsibility and compassion. The Good Samaritan challenges us not to pass by, but to notice others and act in ways that uphold dignity and worth. This understanding shapes how we think about belonging, responsibility and care within our school community. “Love your neighbour as yourself.” (Luke 10:27)
This statement sets a clear direction for the school. It guides leadership decisions, curriculum design, behaviour approaches, pastoral support and partnerships with families and the wider community.
Our four core values sit beneath this vision and shape daily life at Sheering:
Curiosity – we ask questions, wonder about the world and enjoy learning
Courage – we are brave, resilient and willing to do the right thing
Compassion – we show kindness, empathy and care for others
Community – we belong, work together and support one another
Together, these values inform how adults and children relate to one another, how behaviour is understood and supported, and how inclusion and belonging are actively fostered.
Over time, these values are reflected across teaching and learning, collective worship, behaviour and relationships, school policies and celebrations of success.
Our values are not just taught - they are lived every day:
Each week, we explore our values through:

Our vision is not static - it's a living, breathing part of our school:
When you join Sheering CE Primary School, you become part of a community where this vision is lived out through our shared values of curiosity, courage, compassion and community.
Living out our vision means:
We show compassion – every child and family is noticed, cared for and treated with kindness and respect
We build community – everyone belongs, and we work together in partnership between home and school
We encourage curiosity – children are supported to be joyful, engaged and enthusiastic about learning
We develop courage – children are helped to persevere, make positive choices and grow in confidence
We enable flourishing – supporting children emotionally, socially, spiritually and academically
We celebrate each child – recognising that every child is uniquely valued and has something to contribute
Our Christian vision is rooted in Jesus’ teaching to “Love your neighbour as yourself” (Luke 10:27), guiding how we treat one another each day.
Families play an essential role in bringing our vision and values to life:
Talk about our values at home – curiosity, courage, compassion and community
Model our values – children learn from what they see and experience
Notice and praise values in action – celebrate kindness, resilience and teamwork
Engage with school life – attend events, read communications and stay connected
Work in partnership with us – sharing information and concerns so we can support children together
Together, by living out our values, we value and care for one another, foster belonging and enable every child to flourish.
